To promote development of important basic science of the "nuclear detector technology and nuclear electronics," fully implementing the development strategy of "the third of innovative project" of CAS, under the guidance of "the whole school Admin Office, the Department of combining" policy made by Chinese Academy of Sciences’ and on the basis of long-term cooperation between Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS and University of Science and Technology of China, “Particle Detection and Electronics nuclear detection technology and nuclear electronics joint laboratory” was officially set up on April 25, 2005 after a year of deliberation and planning. In December 2008, the joint laboratory was awarded “Key Laboratory of Chinese Academy of Sciences”. On March 29, 2011, State Key Laboratory of Particle Detection and Electronics was approved as a project by the Ministry of Science.
To build a world-class nuclear detection technology and nuclear electronics research base, meet the National need, the key laboratory will complete design and construction tasks of several major science research devices. Currently about 110 staff scientists and engineers, more than 60 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows are working with the laboratory. The research fields of the key laboratory focus mainly on advanced nuclear detection technology, front-end electronics, high-capacity data acquisition and processing system.
