            Division of Nuclear Technology and Applications TEXT SIZE: A A A

Division of Nuclear Technology and Applications is a research department that undertakes the conversion of research outcomes in IHEP. It is a platform for converting the advanced research outcomes of accelerator technology, ray technology, and applied ray technology. Based on the experience and techniques accumulated with the major scientific and technological infrastructure of IHEP, and oriented by application, the Division studies the related cutting-edge technologies, develops the key components, integrates advanced techniques, develops advanced application instruments, devices, and systems, and thus promotes the conversion of advanced techniques, instruments, devices, and systems. By combining the advantageous disciplines and accumulated technological foundation of IHEP, the Division coordinates and facilitates the conversion of scientific research outcomes and high-tech development outcomes, promotes the economic development of the society, and thus meets the demand of the nation.

Since its foundation, Division of Nuclear Technology and Applications has relied on the innovative outcomes and technological accumulation produced by the major scientific and technological research infrastructure constructed by IHEP to carry out the research of cutting-edge techniques of medical imaging, precision detection, security inspection, application of accelerators, the development of critical techniques, and the integration of systems. So far, the Division has completed the development and manufacture of several high-performance, competitive ray imaging devices and established a sustainable application research and service platform. The Division mainly specializes in the following fields: (1) Cutting-edge technological research, development of key components, system integration, and application development of nuclear medical imaging. (2) Cutting-edge technological research, development of key components, system integration, and application development of precision detection and security inspection. (3) Cutting-edge technological research, development of key components, system integration, and application development of accelerators.

Major outcomes accomplished by the Division include: Proprietary nuclear imaging devices like Micro-PET, Micro-PET/CT, Micro-SPECT/CT, clinical breast special PET, and whole-body PET; various advanced and reliable industrial CT devices; accelerator X-ray sources, medical accelerating tubes, and various models of industrial irradiation accelerators. All these outcomes have been applied in China and have promoted the development related new strategic industries.

At present, the Division has 62 official employees, 88% of whom have graduate degree.
